Hellcats

The new CW drama kicked off last week in the states. This show comes to us riding on the back of the “Bring It On” cheerleading movie franchise. You guessed it a lot of beautiful people competing, for the state championships!

Aly Michalka plays Marti, a poor college student from the wrong side of the tracks whose only hope for financial aid is a cheerleading scholarship. No, seriously, that's the actual premise of the show. Against her principles, she joins the Hellcats, an elite cheerleading squad led by Savannah (High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale).

In true American teen dramedy style Marti & Savannah clash heads from the beginning! Luckily though with Marti’s former gymnast champion abilities (good thing to with no former cheerleading experience how else would she have gotten on the team?) Savannah can see the diamond in the rough!

Getting down to brass taxes this hurts no one and is all good clean fun even with the hazing ritual scene of Marti’s clothes and towel being stolen when she goes for a shower, One Tree Hill rip off anyone? All in all with a strong soundtrack and some serious cheerleading footage this could be a preppy replacement for those teen viewers looking for something new.
